The Lake Zurich Maulers are a youth rugby club dedicated to introducing children to the exciting world of rugby. We currently have two programs - Rookie Rugby, which is a non-contact version of the game of rugby for children ages 4-10 - and U13 rugby which is an introductory, tackle version of the game for children ages 10-12!
Our experienced coaches will strive towards providing a safe and nurturing environment where young players can develop their skills, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for the sport. Rookie Rugby is a non-contact version of rugby that is a played in elementary leagues until players are ready to be introduced to the traditional contact version of the game.
U13 Rugby is an introductory, tackle version of the game of rugby. This team is for children who turn age 10 or age 12 on or after July 1 prior to the fall and spring seasons. Some exceptions can be made on a case-by-case basis, just contact us!

Just cleats and a mouthguard! Both football and soccer cleats are acceptable.
The Lake Zurich Maulers plan to start their inaugural season in mid-March of 2025 with the season going through April and May. The schedule page has more information.
A maul is a phase of play within rugby where one or more players from each team are in physical contact close around the ball. A maul is formed off the ground, with participating players standing on their feet. Keep in mind that maul's are not a part of the flag rugby game!
